Brighter North generally collects personal data directly from you. We may collect and update your personal data over the phone, by email, or over the internet.
Brighter North also collects and uses personal data for market research purposes and to innovate our delivery of products and services.
How does Brighter North use artificial intelligence?
Our vision and mission tools use a third-party AI provider, OpenAI, to generate statements from the answers you provide. When you use these tools, the answers you submit are sent to OpenAI for processing and returned to you as generated statements. OpenAI processes this data on our behalf as a subprocessor and in accordance with its own terms and policies.
Our tools include automated safety checks. Where an input is flagged by these checks, that input is recorded in our systems so that we can maintain the safety and integrity of the service. We retain this record in line with the retention approach described in this Privacy Policy.
We do not use your answers to make any decision that produces a legal or similarly significant effect on you without your involvement.
How does Brighter North interact with you via the internet?
You may visit our website (brighternorth.com) without identifying yourself. If you identify yourself, for example by providing your contact details in an enquiry or by creating an account, any personal data you provide to Brighter North will be managed in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
Brighter North's website uses cookies and similar technologies. Some of these are necessary for the site to work. In particular, we use a secure session cookie, together with local storage in your browser, to keep your progress through our tools attached to you as you move between pages and if you close and reopen your browser. We also use Google Analytics to understand how people find and use our website, for example which pages are visited and how long people stay. Google Analytics sets its own cookies and processes that information on our behalf. We do not use it to identify you personally, and we do not combine it with the answers you give in our tools. Visitors in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom are not measured using analytics or advertising cookies unless they consent.
You can use the settings in your browser to control how your browser deals with cookies, and you can opt out of Google Analytics in any browser using Google's own opt-out browser add-on. However, in blocking cookies, you may be unable to access certain pages or content on our website, and your progress through our tools may not be saved.

In line with the security obligations under the DPA 2017, we take appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data from misuse, interference and loss, and from unauthorized access, modification or disclosure.
These measures include access controls, and user identifiers and passwords to control access to our systems. Our website is secured using SSL/TLS encryption to protect the transmission of information between your browser and our website. While we take reasonable steps to protect your personal data, no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
We retain personal data only for as long as it is needed for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, or as required by law, after which we take steps to destroy or de-identify it. In the event of a personal data breach that is likely to result in a risk to your rights and freedoms, we will notify the Data Protection Office and affected individuals where required under the DPA 2017.
